Pomiculture Improvements

To improve fruit tree cultivars and cultural techniques within this district such as Tankan, Hailli Tankan,
Murcott, sweet persimmons and strawberries.
●Developed strawberry cultivars Taoyuan No.1 to 3 and released to farmers.
●Experimented the effect of cross pollination on fruit quality by using artificially pollinated Tankan, Haili
Tankan, and Murcott.
●Conducted murcott breeding for less seeds to improve fruit quality.
●Utilized runners in tube techinique on strawberry that advances the time of harvest, and also
improved  the quality and yield of the fruit.
●Applied techniques of pruning elongated growths and thinning of young fruits that increased the
quality and yield of Tankan and Murcott.
●Improved the quality of sweet persimmon fruit on slopeland in northern Taiwan by flower-bud
thinning and fertilizer management.
